While you may be aware that Jeffrey’s parents supported him throughout his capture, sentencing and death, the serial killer also had a younger brother, who changed his identity to peacefully spend the rest of his life. Here are all the details about his younger brother, David Dahmer and his whereabouts.

A Bit About David Dahmer…

David’s parents

David Dahmer is the less-known younger brother of Jeffrey Dahmer, who was sentenced to a sixteenth term of life imprisonment for his heinous crimes. David was born on December 18, 1966, in Doylestown, Ohio and was named David by Jeffrey. David’s happy childhood has an adverse effect on Jeffrey, who eventually began to resent his brother.

David’s name came up for the first time in a June 2004 episode of “Larry King Live” where Jeffrey’s father and stepmother were interviewed 10 years after his death in prison.  Jeffrey’s father, Lionel, spoke about his younger son, David, mentioning that he has changed his name and asked for respecting his privacy.

However, his stepmother, Shari Dahmer provided some light on the two brothers. She stated that David has made a career and is happy with his family, also, back then, he was expecting a second child. It came out that Jeffrey was seven years older than David but initially they enjoyed their brotherhood.

However, their personalities were very different. On one hand, David was outgoing and popular, and Jeffrey was a shy and introspective child. Well, David was given more importance by his parents while Jeffrey was looked down upon by them.

Where Is David Now?

Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer later came known as the “Milwaukee Cannibal” or the “Milwaukee Monster”, was convicted of “fifteen of the sixteen murders” in Wisconsin and was initially sentenced to fifteen terms of life imprisonment in 1992. While many were wanting a death sentence for him, his sentence was extended to sixteen terms of life imprisonment. FYI, Wisconsin abolished the death penalty in 1853.

Jeffrey may have dodged the death penalty, but he could only serve three years in prison as he was killed by a fellow inmate Christopher Scarver on November 28, 1994. A sister of Jeffrey’s last victim, Rita Isbell revealed in an interview that she had anticipated her slaying in prison way back. She claimed to have received phone calls from men claiming to be prison inmates and promising her that he would be taken care of.

After his death, David escaped from public life. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati shortly after Jeffrey was killed in prison and attained a new identity. When asked for interviews, David didn’t step forward and completely disassociated himself from the Dahmer family. No one knows his whereabouts at the moment.

Netflix premiered a scripted drama series “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” on September 21, 2022, starring Evans Peters as Dahmer. The series explores the Jeffrey case from the point of view of the victims who managed to survive his gruesome acts. Have you seen it?
